The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is considered by experts one of the most spectacular trekking routes in the world. However, not all visitors who come to Cusco to make this famous walk are lucky enough to make this unforgettable journey on foot in the midst of breathtaking natural landscapes and archaeological remains. And that is to protect and preserve this important legacy of our ancestors of the high demand the number of people who can access daily to this road network is limited. So much so that sometimes you have to make reservations weeks in release.

Itinerary Tourist Destination

Day 1: Cusco, Challacancha, Soroycocha

SALKANTAY ROAD - DAY 1

We leave Cusco early in the morning (06.00) towards the community of Mollepata, Andean community located in a sub-tropical region at 2803 meters. En route we visit the archaeological group Tarawasi, one of the most beautiful Inca constructions in that area.

Then we continue driving through a dirt troche up to Challacancha in place to find Horsemen and horses who carry the burden of our expedition, of Challacancha begin to ascend toward Salcantaypampa, where we will have lunch, then a short break We continue the climb up to Soroycocha (4,491 meters), where it will be the first camp, from this place we will have a spectacular view of ApuSalcantay (snowy summit to 6271.00 meters) also known as the Lord Protector and Guardian of Cusco.

Day 2: Soroycocha, Qollpapampa

SALKANTAY ROAD - DAY 2

After a healthy breakfast, early morning forecasting a long day of walking, start walking at 6:30 am, heading for Collpapampa, the first installment will begin bringing the Paso Salkantay (4525masl) in place after build our Apacheta for having made it to the highest point of the route, we will enjoy a beautiful view of the glaciers of the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the south face of ApuSalcantay in place we will have the chance to see wildlife in the area as chinchillas , Andean Condor in its natural habitat, reaching Huayracmachay have lunch, then we continue down to a tropical climate called cloud forest. On this route we can see the original ancient Inca road approximately 6 meters and to meet the Salcantay river which will continue until the second Qollpapampa camp (2870m).

Day 3: Qollpapampa, Lucmabamba

SALKANTAY ROAD - DAY 3

After breakfast we start to descend through a narrow path along the banks of the river Cachora or also known as Santa Teresa.

This day we will enjoy a warm and humid climate, at this point will begin changing the flora and fauna of a region increasingly green and ready for a sub-tropical foliage in the path will cross with wild fruit plantations such as passion, so by coffee plantations.

Then we pass by Coripacchi Falls, reaching Wiñaypoko settlement, where we enjoy a delicious menu.

In the afternoon we walk close to the banks of the river until Sahuayaco wing small village of a small community of 20 families. Then we arrive at our campsite in Lucmabamba.

Day 4: Lucmabamba, Machu Picchu

SALKANTAY ROAD - DAY 4

After breakfast we start walking towards the community of Playa, cross the river and start ascending to El Mirador or Abra de Q'elloqasa (2860 meters), from where we have an exceptional view of Machu Picchu, The Lost City of the Incas, from a different angle. On site enjoy our last lunch accompanied by nature, and then reach Llactapata (2650masl) place from which we can glimpse Machu Picchu and ApuSalcantay and take a good rest, it was recently restored Llactapata and value by the Institute National Culture. Then we begin to descend back into the river and see Aobamba as much and fruit and coffee plantations to reach Machu Picchu Hydroelectric where we board the local train that will take us to Aguas Calientes (a short route and landscape that lasts 30 min approx.) where we transfer to the hotel of your choice, to take a relaxing bath and relax.

Day 5: Machu Picchu, Cusco

MACHU PICCHU

You will visit one of the most important energy centers of the world: Machu Picchu. The excursion will be by train and during the tour we will have a breathtaking view of the landscape of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, our representatives will assist you to board the bus that will take you to the citadel. It will be an unforgettable experience, where a professional tour guide will transmit us the history around this mysterious and charming place. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the zone on your own, relax and meditate. At the appropriate time, I decline to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, you will board the train back to Cusco via Ollanta Station. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
