This is an art created in the Peruvian Andes, specifically in the region of Ayacucho, where it was dubbed, "cajas de San Marcos" or boxes of San Marcos in the nineteenth century. They are made of different sizes and consist of one or two floors. The Retablos are delicately and artistically painted wooden boxes, depicting daily life scenes of the Andes as well as religious scenes such as the nativity and the Three Wise Men with Andean shepherds.More...
